Time to rethink

Iraq: The Real Story
By Oliver North FOX News
In this article North outlines Operation Iraqi Freedom. He raises many points that should be considered. One directing attention back to the accomplishments.
Many have forgotten that Operation Iraqi Freedom started off as a success. Within three weeks U.S. troops liberated Baghdad. This was something no military force in history had done.
From the accomplishments North went into the problems. The initial problems occurred when the shift of the war went from Iraq to D.C. This is when the political hands got involved and started messing things up.
He then returned to a list of accomplishments. His bottom line was that the americans fighting the war deserve better than what they are getting from the media and politicians alike.
I agree one hundred percent with his article. Even at BYU all I hear now in all of my political science classes is that failure that this war has been. How it is time for us to get out. Don't get me wrong, I hate war more then anybody. But putting that aside, we do have the greatest fighting force in the world. We have the most educated fighting force in the world. And we have the men and women that continue to keep our nation and other nations that desire it, free. It's disappointing that we have let politics and media taint the war. Many great accomplishments have occurred in Iraq, why won't they bring those up? I think it is time that we give the more then 1.6 million that are and have been over sea's a little bit of a thank you for fighting a war they didn't ask for.

Not Wright, but grandma

Why is it that Oboma saves his preacher but throws grandma under the bus. He confessed grandmas feelings but he didn't share his own feelings. "but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe." He does not tell his own feelings, he tells his grandmothers. I want to know how HE FEELS. Not his grandmother, not how the country should be one. I want to know how he feels.

Getting Elected, Staying Elected

Individual members have three goals: re-election, leadership and power in the house, and personal policy objectives. These goals overlap substantially, but often also conflict.
The best predictor then to know what each member will do is based on them getting re-elected. They love to use the persuasion that they are representing the voice of the people. "They want to know the voice of the people, there district." Don't be fooled they want to get reelected. It then should not be stunning why members in the house do what they do.
At one point, members begin to get elected at higher percentages. Once they are being reelected at 55% or higher they then begin to shift goals and focus on leadership. They start moving up the chain of command.

Spitzer Weighing Resignation?

Spitzer weighing resignation? Are you serious. This should be a done deal. It's not something he needs to consider. He has disgraced the office of the Governor of the state of New York. This seems more severe then Monica Lewinsky. This guy is purchasing prostitution. This has huge implications. If he does not resign then it becomes a norm to have prostitution in government offices. Now don't think I'm naive. I'm sure there is tons of prostitution going on but at least those that are doing it can hide it. What does his wife do? Is Hillary Clinton someone to look to for help. What relationship does Spitzer have with Bill Clinton. I'm confused why everyone in Albany is so stunned. It is a capital accustomed to scandals. Why would any one be shocked. Why don't they start to clean the state up from the top down.

"Necessary and Proper"

Article 1, Section 8, of the constitution, which enumerates the powers of Congress and provides congress with the authority to make all laws "necessary and proper" to carry them out.

Understanding this makes it necessary for you to really take a look at your elected officials and determine what type of character do they have. This section of Article 1 can allow the federal government to expand. This is a necessary part of the constitution but it can be turned against us if we put the wrong people into office. It is important then for the American people to be educated and know there candidate more then just what ads they see on t.v.
